Yay to me! Hahaha. It's been very looooong since I put something up here. I haven't blogged here either. I've always been blogging on my Multiply site. I'll just be posting links here next time. I'm tired of copying and pasting to and from different blog sites. It's too much of a burden... Haven't even touched my Xanga since.... I don't remember...

Just blogged to say hello and remind everyone I still exist. XD

OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT

OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT. Most of the ex-interns said the OPD staff were a bit cranky bit nice nevertheless. My co-interns who went through there said the same thing. Well, actually, they all said Sir Marvin was nicer to girls. I think I can agree to that. My Monday was pretty OK. I actually had fun inside the OPD lab. I made eleven extractions here. And all were successful. Haha. I did one CRP screening test and a bit of ESR tests. So I was with Noah, Lloyd, and Paul that day. Bianca was from duty so she was only there to help us out early morning before eight, well, up until Sir Marvin arrived.
I had to feed tubes inside the main lab again. But at least we weren’t as toxic as last Friday. We only had a couple of specimens to test. I think around twenty at most. But there was a technician who came to fix the machine in the OPD lab and it was fixed, thankfully. Although I don’t mind going to the Hema section once in a while. I like walking around doing errands sometimes.

I’m still confused with the charging what not at the OPD lab. Hopefully I get it soon or else I’ll get demerits. Hope not.

We had lunch at Tomato Grill—again, for me. I had kebab this time. Lloyd went back early to the lab because he had to be there for the ESR reading. It was supposed to be me, but I asked him instead since he was the first one to finish eating. Paul went with him. After a few minutes Noah realized he hadn’t paid for his food yet. Then we found out Paul didn’t either. He completely forgot. Noah just paid for Paul’s food in the meantime. It was funny when we met up with Paul on the way back to the OPD lab. His eyes widened when he remembered. Haha. I can still remember the look on his face. Well, anyway, we told him to just pay Noah back for it. lol

My day there passed by quickly. Maybe because I had a lot to do. When we came back from lunch there wasn’t much to do anymore. There were patients who came, but just two or three. I just cut cotton so I could have something to do. During the latter part of the day, we were just chatting with Sir Marvin.

That was it.

MAY 6-7, 2008
CORNED BEEF. NON-TOXIC. NO MOVIES. EVIAN!

TUESDAY. Tuesdays are spent on theses and seminars at UST. We’re still having trouble with whom we’re supposed to pass out thesis to. Ma’am Lopez or Sir Martin? We’re really in the middle of the see-saw here. Anyway, we agreed to go to UST at ten in the morning to visit Ma’am Lopez but we weren’t able to get to her in time. Actually, we were on time. I wonder why she left so early. So Lloyd did us all a favour and told us he’d wait for 2 p.m. (Sir Martin’s time) and submit the topics to him. Thanks a lot Lloyd.
I met up with old friends afterwards. Met Eya and Gerard. Had Brian with us too. I also saw Adolf, Jana, Kamille, and Iya, and I remember seeing Fred too. Oh yeah! And Ron! JP, Bianca, Anna, and I were in the process of waiting for Lloyd and thinking of what to do then when we passed by one room. (Anna was just tagging along, because I asked her to and we had a lot of catching up on to do XD) there we saw Adrian and Ron with a couple of other students and they were eating there. I just found out it was Ma’m Tiburcio’s birthday. She was there too and she asked us to come in. Well, first, I just saw Ron from the window. I waved at him when he saw me and he went out and gave me a big hug. Really missed this guy. Then we greeted Ma’am Tiburcio from the door and she asked us to come inside and eat cake. We went in and decided to wait for Lloyd there while we chatted with Adrian and Ron. I had a peach mango pie there. Hehe. Later on, Norbert, Donnel, and Franco came in with pizza and happy birthdays for Ma’am Tiburcio. I had two slices from the pizza. Hehe. I was hungry. Good thing I was there. Ma’am Tiburcio was asking us to eat anyway, and she won’t be able to finish all the food on her own XD So I did some help. Haha! After thirty minutes, we said goodbye and set out to look for Ma’am Lopez and that’s the part where Lloyd told us he’d wait for Sir Martin instead.
So I met Gerard and Eya. Did some catching up on... When we went separate ways, Eya was with me. I asked her to come to my house since I had something for her. A really super belated happy birthday gift. It’s a small turtle plushie. She loves turtles.

We did tutorials on each other with iTunes and Adobe Photoshop while I was waiting for the time. (night duty moi) She left at three-thirty in the afternoon. I got ready early so I wouldn’t rush and wouldn’t forget anything on my way to the hospital. My dad let me bring the car. I messaged Chi and asked him how much the parking cost inside the hospital. He said it costs a hundred pesos if I parked overnight. Talk about expensive! And it’s not even a nice parking lot! So he told me to park at McDonald’s instead since he was planning to park there too. So I hit the grocery first cause we planned to have my cooking of corned beef for dinner. On my way to the hospital Chi messaged me to park at Chowking instead, which was just right across McDonald’s. Said he parked there because the “;parking boys” said he couldn’t park at McDo. When I got there, Chi was waiting for me, which was so nice of him. He told me he waited because I might park at a farther place. lol

So Chi-Yu and I were the first ones in at the lab. I remember Alma coming in next, then Migs, and then I lost track. All I know was that Jondee was the last to get there. Alma and were up at the female ward when my cellphone beeped. I was sure it was Jondee. I was right. He was asking how many of us were at the lab already. I wasn’t able to reply since I read it late. He was already inside the lab when Alma and I got back there from extraction.

CORNED BEEF. I started cooking at seven. I asked Jondee to cover for me at the CM section first while I cooked. (Jondee brought the pepper! XD) It was over an hour when I finished. It was real hot inside the kitchen and I couldn’t use the exhaust fan since the fan used inside the Hema section was plugged there. Too bad for me. I had to go out every once in a while to cool myself down. Chi brought the rice. I had to go out to buy us paper plates and utensils. We all weren’t able to eat at the same time as usual because of work. But it was all right. They liked my corned beef! Yay! XD

EVIAN. Jondee went out to buy us drinks. Well, the bold letters say it all. EVIAN. He bought EVIAN. Expensive water from the Alps. He made a mistake when he took that bottle for Migs. He thought all the bottled water brands there on the same rack had the same price. He was surprised to see the price when he paid for it. But he paid for it anyway! Haha... He just asked Migs to pay less for it. Weird Jondee. Jondeebee! Barbieboy! XDDD Please endure all this sarcasm. It’s so fun to do. Haha! Water from the Swiss Alps. lol Yeah right.

NON-TOXIC. NO MOVIES. Didn’t have a lot of dues and there weren’t so much extractions from ER either. Even Bacte section had quite a rest. In the CM section, there weren’t any specimens that came so I had nothing to do either. We had a lot of requests for the morning peak, though. But it was all right. There were five of us who went to the wards. We had an addition to the group. JP, Alma’s postmate during the day. The highlight of the night were our personality tests and jokes and ghost stories since we weren’t able to watch any DVD’s... Ma’am Erge didn’t let us. Awww. =[

During the morning peak, Alma and I went together. She had trouble with the two kids. One was too wild, meaning she kept moving before and during the needle was in. The other one, well we both had trouble finding her vein. Alma took one shot and then we decided to just endorse it since we both pitied the kid. The extractions at the female ward were okay. I didn’t have trouble with that. Hehe. Just a little insert, there was an extraction this morning and I took blood from his foot. I was finally successful but I had to do two shots. The veins in his foot collapse easily. I was lucky enough to get 4mL on my second shot. I had another extraction in the morning as well, this time with Migs. And it was a kid again. Around eight years old, I think. I didn’t hit the vein the first time, although I was sure it was there. I got blood on the second shot, but it stopped when I reached 4mL. I needed 6mL. Anyway, it was all right since the blood in the EDTA tube could be used for ESR anyway... (I later found out Ma’am Kay scolded Migs for not being able to extract enough. Sorry...)

I slept for fifteen minutes when we were waiting for the day duty. I woke up because of the heat and realized Muriel, my postmate, was already there. Later, Noah and Bianca arrived and I went with them to open the OPD lab. Left there when Ma’am Nette arrived. Hehe. It was eight o’clock anyway. I was supposed to be out.

Had breakfast at McDonald’s with everyone minus Chi-Yu. I had free breakfast thanks to JC! When we got inside McDonald’s I decided I wouldn’t eat since I didn’t really have the appetite. When JC asked I kidded him I’d eat if he treated me and he said yes! Harhar. Good breakfast it was. They all rode with me until Dapitan, well, minus JC this time. Even Loraine was there. Her dad wasn’t able to fetch her this time. They even kidded I drive them until UST. I would’ve except my dad was expecting the car at nine because they were going to use good ol’ Crosswind. Then I found out at home that he was waiting for me until 9:30. Haha. Too bad.

That’s pretty much my night duty. 20th working day.

I’ll be back at the OPD section tomorrow. Better prop up for Ma’am Nette. Hehehe.

MAY 9, 2008
JUST THE TWO OF US.

I was the first one to arrive at the OPD section again. I opened early and prepared the things there. Bianca came later and brought with her the books for the OPD, which I apparently forgot to take with me when I went to the OPD lab. So we were the only ones there. Noah was from duty and Lloyd was on night duty that time. Paul, on the other hand, wasn’t there either because they have seminars on Fridays.

Bianca did most of the extractions and charging today. I did most of the CRP tests since she had her CRP quota filled already. I still need one to finish my CRP. Haha... Bitin pa. Kakainis. XD

The day went well again. Bianca told me to go to the OPD lab even though it wasn’t my duty because the staff there was always nice whenever I was there. Maybe just coincidence? Harhar. Or maybe I’m a good charm? Hahaha! Wonder what Jondee was talking about the OPD lab? Hehehe. Magkikita ba kayo, boi!

I think it was before lunch when I went “shopping” to the storage room for supplies. The grocery list: EDTA tubes, red capped tubes, and citrated tubes, syringes, needles, surgical tape, staple wire, chlorox, and CRP reagent. And I had to bring everything all by myself. I wasn’t able to ask anyone to help me carry stuff. Actually, Sir Josh offered to help, but I said no thanks ‘cause it wasn’t hard for me to carry anyway.
Back at the lab, I think around one to two in the afternoon, Sir Josh went to the OPD lab sign at the results. He and Sir Marvin were asking each other if Winnie the Pooh was a girl or boy. Of course, they had some pretty convincing theories of Pooh’s gender. They even talked about Tweety Bird. Oh well, no argument there. XD

When I dropped by the main lab, there was a paper posted at the CM section about Winnie the Pooh’s gender. Haha. I knew right away it was Sir Josh who wrote it. Hehe.

Around 3:15 p.m. Trishia went to visit me at POC. She brought Dono and Mika with her. They all looked alike! They all had long hair with bangs. Wahaha. Bangs brigade. XD Well, she went to look for me at the main lab, but one of the guys—Wisdom, I think—told her I was at the OPD lab. She went home earlier because she needed to pass by her school first before going home. Marvin got there at 4:10 p.m. He was late. But I didn’t really mind.

That was my day at OPD.

Well, after my lab hours, Koji, Trishia, and I went to Center for Arts to watch Michael, Orly, and Wilson’s gig there. They played three songs, which were all fun to watch and listen too. Orly was funny. Wilson was really good with the guitar. Mike was good too. Hehe. Yabang, boi... Of course, let me not forget to mention the EMo oeople there. I don’t really have anything against the emo crowd, but I do have a lot to say to the POSERS. Hopefully most of them there weren’t posers, but I highly doubt that. They’re sort of an allergen to me. Koji agrees. lol

I really hated the first band that played. They sounded really bad. They vocal was out of tune and occasionally flat. And the lead guitar was out of tune too. He was totally pressing the wrong chords. The second band was good, except I didn’t like the vocalist that much. She wasn’t bad at all. It’s just that I didn’t like the quality of her voice. And it was pretty annoying to hear a lot of Paramore songs. The band after Michael’s was utterly atrocious, to quote Simon Cowell. They all looked high and the vocalist was DREADFULLY OUT OF TUNE AND FLAT. Okay, just out of tune to be a little merciful. But come on... They call themselves a band? Or the vocalist... He calls himself a singer? Waahh... It just so hard to find quality bands these days... What ever happened to the Beatles, Eraserheads, or APO Hiking Society?

MAY 12-13, 2008
PAY WARD. BIRTHDAY.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION INSIDE THE LABORATORY. Well, not really a celebration. We just had ourselves free dinner from Shanghai Noodles. Harhar. It was Mig’s birthday. Not technically though. His brithday’s really on May 13th. It was just May 12 then. We were supposed to have adobong manok but then I wasn’t able to go to the grocery. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise after all. Hehehe.

Later in the evening Alma, Loraine, and I went out to buy refreshments at 711. Jondee asked us to buy red ted for him and Migs also asked for Oreo Double Stuff. So I told him I’ll give him the Oreo as a present. I even kidded if he wanted me to wrap it. Well, we three girls had fun and found cute paper bags near the door at 711. We chose the tiny pink paper bag so the Oreo would stick out. Alma and Loraine paid for the paper bag and we were laughing out way back to the lab. It was laugh time as well when I handed Migs the paper bag. He reacted at the pink paper bag. I don’t need to ask why. XD Our birthday message: DANDALANDANDANDAN! It’s an inside joke. lol

Well I only got two specimens at the CM section. Pretty boring.
The doctors left late during out night duty. The last doctor left at 3:30 a.m., which was pretty much annoying ‘cause we were bored to death waiting for them to go so we could start watching movies at my laptop. We started really late and I was getting tense since the morning peak was going to start soon. Another thing was our thesis. I was supposed to write the significane of the study but my head just wasn’t in the working mood. It just wouldn’t cooperate with me. Sabaw talaga.

I got nauseous before the morning peak. Alma suggested we start the morning peak early so I could rest early as well. I agreed and decided not finish watching Turistas. When I stood up, everyone else agreed to just do the morning peak. It wasn’t fun to watch anymore. There just wasn’t enough time for a movie.

So I was assigned to the Pay Wards. Usually, our staff/medtech on duty does the morning peak at the pay wards because the patients there are typically more “sensitive”, maselan ba, because they obviously pay. Anyway, moving on... I warded there and it went great. XD I was able to extract successfully at everyone. There were times I thought I had to endorse but then I hit the vein when I probe. I was the first one in the lab. I sort of felt quite a swell of accomplishment. It really felt good. At least I was able to sleep that time. I woke up and found the day duty people had arrived. The little nap had helped take away the nausea, thankfully. I helped open the OPD then timed out at 8 a.m. We had our breakfast at McDonald’s, this time, we were complete. Hehe. Even JP was with us.
My mom and dad used the car the car so asked me to commute with my friends instead. Luckily, JC offered to give us all a ride. Yay.

Took a bath right away when I got home and flopped myself on my bed. I didn’t get to go to UST because I was too tired. Need iron supplements...

MAY 14, 2008
EDTA TUBES. HUNTING. REIMBURSEMENT. CHEESEBURGER!

EDTA TUBES. We had a dentist as our first patient. He had a request for CBC and blood chemistry. Lloyd didn’t notice the CBC request so he was only able to fill the red capped tube. But—I won’t elaborate—the problem was fixed. Diskarte lang talaga ang kailangan sa OPD. Leche. Gagaling talaga kayo dito.

Lloyd got in a bit of a trouble here. He thought HEPA profile and LIVER profile were the same. He charged the patient with a different test so he had to run around looking for the patient and then going to the doctor to confirm which tests were really needed. Ma’am Nette and Sir Marvin knew about it, of course. Ma’am Nette helped out Lloyd. The problem was then resolved when Lloyd said he would just pay for it in case the patient wouldn’t come back. But fortunately enough, the patient came that same day. It was good news because refunds were only allowed during the day.

Sir Marvin kept teasing Lloyd to buy us cheeseburgers since he didn’t have to pay for the tests.

BURGER! BURGER! BURGER!

MAY 15, 2008
DISKARTE, PARE.

Diskarte, pare.

(Wahaha…;) Hehe… Well, sinagot naman ni Noah yung tanong eh. Hehehe. Straight daw siya. (straight gay? Joke!) Straight guy. XD

Natapos ko na rin yung mga quota ko sa OPD, pwera nga lang yung extractions. Kulang pa ko ng sampu… yata… DIbale, may isang makeup pa naman ako kaya matatapos ko rin. Kalian kaya ako magme-makeup? Hehe. Sino kaya sasabayan ko dun?

Sarap ng kinain ko nung lunch. Bicol Express, ginataan, tsaka California Maki. Hehe. Hati kami ni Noah sa CA maki. Sarap talaga. Nagtatakaw nanaman ako. Lapit na eh… The big red dot.

Sa totoo lang nalungkot ako. Pano last day na namin ngayon sa OPD. Eh ayoko pang umalis dun. Kung kailan ba naman kabisado mo na lahat tsaka ka pa aalis. Tsaka feeling ko talaga boring sa CM eh. Waah. Gusto ko sa OPD! Okay naman staff naming dun. Sino ba kasi may sabing hindi?

Pero astig naman. Aalis ako ng OPD ng walang demerit. All right.

MAY 16, 2008
SHIFTING

OPD orientation. Oriented my previous postmates at the OPD section. Bianca went there too. Muriel helped orient back at the CM section.

Noah’s gender. Ma’am Violy asked Noah. lol Issue started again. She paired me with Noah. Just like Sir Marvin.

Pictures on Sir Josh’s phone. I won’t even elaborate on that.

I basically don’t remember a lot since I’ve procrastinated on blogging for this day.

Nothing much really happened. It was just the shifting today for CM and OPD.

MAY 17, 2008
24 HOURS

24 hours. It was fun.

Videos. Made videos during the day. Took a video of Jondee and Migs working together. Hehe. We just love teasing them. They were washing tubes together. lolness

Pictures. Loraine’s camera did the job! Hehe. We had about 80+ pictures on her camera, most of it funny. Took lots of Jondee. Harhar. Then there’s this shot of Mark where he was apparently “stealing” the barrel of chicken. (Had KFC for dinner.) Then I took a picture of Loraine’s socked feet. Hehe. And lots lots more. Go look at the pictures later.

Lunch. We had chicken adobo for lunch. We have our own utensils and plates and cups now! Haha. We don’t have to buy disposable stuff anymore. Only bad news is, Loraine only bought a set of eight cups. Hehe. We have apple green, yellow, and blue plates. I used the apple green one. Alma and I bought the ingredients for lunch and the plates and utensils the day before and window shopped as well. It was fun bonding with her. XD

No sleep. Yeah. I really didn’t have any sleep. I just didn’t feel like sleeping... But everyone else was. I think I was just being angsty at that time. It was weird. Hehe. Personal reasons.

Urinalysis and Fecalysis. We were shifted to the CM section already, and it was my time to process urine and—ugh—stool. I had two stool samples and—I think—three urine samples to analyze. Ma’am Claudet was our staff that night. She was the one who helped me with the microscopic findings. Another gross thing was the phlegm-like stool I received. It was in a vial and I left it standing. And the “;phlegm” oozed out of the vial! Gross? Yeah. You could’ve lived your life not hearing that. TMI. Hehe.

Pleural fluid. That specimen was simply toxic! I mean, the whole lab was suddenly alive when there was a send out specimen that came in. I had to analyze pleural fluid. Had to do dilutions and cell counts. The cell count was annoying. The counting chamber was really bad. What’s worse was, a part of the stage of the microscope wasn’t working right. (I forgot what the part was called. XD) Anyway, there was one point where I already wanted to cry because the counting chamber moved and I lost count. It was so hard to focus on the cells. Darn. It felt like heaven when I finished.

And Mark’s toxic. As usual. He was toxic when he was in Bacte. He’s still toxic now that he’s in BTS/BB. Wah. Toxic person.

Dinner. KFC. Had two barrels. Or was that just one? I don’t really remember. Anyway, that was the time when I took a lot of pictures of Jondee while he was eating. He even had a candid shot of taking chicken from the barrel. It was also this time where we turned of the lights and took a picture of Mark while was trying to steal the chicken. Of course, that was all planned. Haha. Everything was on purpose. lol

Movietime. Halloween. I didn’t really watch three-fourths of it. I didn’t want to watch it. It was too gross and depressing for my taste. I can’t stomach films like that. So what I did was go to the ER when there was an extraction. JC came along to help. Migs came too since he already saw the film. When I went back to the lab, (JC and Migs came back later) they weren’t watching anymore. There were other extractions to do. But we finished the film later...

Extractions. I don’t remember all of it. (I procrastinated from blogging again.) Like I said, I wasn’t able to sleep. I fixed the tacklebox early for the morning peak. JP woke up a little while later and fixed his tacklebox as well. I don’t remember who finished first, but I didn’t take long. Neat.

We had breakfast at Jollibee. I took a video there again. Just a random note.

Woke up 9:00 in the evening when I slept at home. Whoa.

PHOTOSHOPPING. TONG ITS. BAD TRIP

Our day staff was Sir Josh. Had chicken curry for lunch and he and Gela ate with us. JC brought the chicken and Chi brought the curry cubes. Chi, JC, and Migs kept going into the chicken while I was cooking. They kept teasing me with complaints and suggestions and other stuff. Alma stayed at the kitchen with me to watch. Haha.

I edited a lot of pictures last Saturday. I finished editing our pictures from our last night duty. I was tired when I finished. Hehe. It was fun looking back at the edited pictures anyway. Made comic strips out of the “burst shots”. XD

I caught a video of Mark and Jondee conversing in English. It was really funny because at the middle of the conversation, Mark would suddenly speak in Japanese, and he’s quite good at it. The topic was “;Peach Mango Pie.” Hehe. Jondee kept asking Mark to buy him peach mango pie. It’s just too bad that the audio sucks. The mic didn’t receive their conversation clearly. I think I turned on the noise suppression. Darn it.

Well the highlight of the day was the tension inside the lab. First it was Chi and Jondee. (Actually it started the day before.) Then it was Alma. She lost her cellphone. Then later, it was Migs and me. Well, everyone was okay later in the evening. It was just really a mood swing for everyone. It still puzzles me. I actually ate alone at McDonald’s. (Everyone else ate already while I was sleeping) Well, Loraine and Alma stalked me there. I was surprised to see them sitting behind me while I was ordering at the counter. I actually wanted to be alone for dinner, but it felt heart-warming to realize they followed me to accompany me. 

We watched 21 that night. JP, Alma, Loraine, Jondee, and me... But Jondee was the only one who finished the movie. We all fell asleep. I was tired and drowsy. The rest of the guys (Except Mark) played tong its with Sir Vern. I think JC won most of the games.

Brought clothes for the next morning since I was supposed to be in church early for the festival. Alma brought clothes too. My mom came at 8 a.m. to drive us to church since she needed to be early there as well for the practice. Jondee, Alma, and Migs went along with us. JC and Chi said they wanted to go home first. Hehe. Well, JP couldn’t come because his friends invited him to go to Pampanga. Loraine couldn’t go either because her dad asked her to accompany him for his CT scan. Mark, on the other hand, said he couldn’t go for a reason I don’t remember.

Anyway, they all came to church. Only Jondee and Migs weren’t able to finish the whole thing since they were going back to Batangas. Or so I remember. But I was really happy and thankful they came. Hehe. Chi, JC, and Alma stayed until the end, but they didn’t stay for lunch, though. They all wanted to sleep already. Hehe. I did too, but I went to Greenhills with my church friends. But I really got tired. I plan not to do it again. I already had a hard time breathing at the end of the day. I was really tired.

MAY 26, 2008
CM SECTION. BANANA CUE.

I came late to the lab today. My dad woke me up to tell me my cell phone was sounding off the alarm. I wasn’t able to hear the alarm go off. I guess I was too exhausted. The alarm was set to go off at 5:30 a.m. just so I know I still have time to sleep before I really wake up. I was supposed to be up by 6:30 a.m. but I kept snoozing and got up at 7 a.m.

I wasn’t my usual animated self early this morning. I was still sleepy and my back still hurt. (It started hurting during the night of our 24-hour duty. I think it’s because I hunched my back over the table too long while I slept.) I was able to sleep in the lab for about an hour or almost an hour and it was sufficient enough, thankfully.

Ate banana cue again. I had five today. The first one I bought had two bananas on a stick and my second stick for merienda had three on a stick, so five all in all. Ma’am Violy teased me to take a pregnancy test because I’ve been craving consecutively for banana cue. It’s just one of my favorite snacks. I love it. I might have one again tomorrow. XD

Had chicken inasal for lunch with Chi, Migs, and JC. I wasn’t satisfied with the chicken. Jayjay’s inasal still tastes better for me. And the rice was expensive! Plain rice costs twenty pesos and the garlic rice costs twenty-eight pesos. Good think I didn’t order drinks anymore. I didn’t want to spend too much.

Finished my urinalysis quota today. We had a lot of specimens. We reached twenty-nine. We usually only had an average of seventeen. But it was Ma’am Violy who read the bulk of it. We did the typing, releasing, and we wrapped vials for autoclaving too.

My dad messaged me that he couldn’t fetch me because they were occupied somewhere else. It was all right because I could hitch along the tricycle with Alma. So I rode the tricycle with Alma and Migs and they even walked me to my street (because I refused to ride a jeep XD). It was really nice of them.

So we parted ways when I got to my street. Hehe. Bye bye.

End of day thirty-two.

ARTS AND CRAFT CLASS

We basically did nothing today. Nothing lab-related, I mean. Well, some of us did, but most helped out with the decorations for the arcs. I helped cut out letters traced out by Sir Josh and make flowers out of that hard, shiny material. It was tiring. I was a bit frustrated when I heard what we still had to be approved. My hands hurt and I couldn’t help but say, “Sana in-approve muna nila bago tayo pinagod.” It was true. It was frustrating and annoying. My hands really hurt bad from making the flowers. The material we used wasn’t easy fold and crumple. If it was crepe paper I wouldn’t complain at all. Hmm, on second thought, maybe I still would. Effort matters a lot people.

I asked Chi to reserve shawarma rice for me again. Hehe. I really found it very palatable. Anyway, lunch was great. Hehe. I even had a share of Chi’s ginataan. Hahaha... We didn’t leave Migs this time lol We had Lloyd with us too. We ate at the CC section this time, since the CM section was occupied by the staff people. XD My tummy hurt afterwards. It’s because of the gabi in Chi’s ginataan!!! Haha. I think it kind of expanded inside my tummy. Hm. I wonder. Felt as though there was a heavy rock inside my stomach. Weird.

It was my first time to run total and direct bilirubin. Hehe. Quota time!!! Oh yeah. We have electrolyte reagents now, if I failed to mention it in my earlier blog. Lucky for those who are on their way to the CC section next month. They’ll be able to reach their quota... It’s a little to late for the one who are currently in the section. Oh, well.

I covered cardboards with golden paper later in the afternoon. Most of the lab was up running not doing tests, but arc decorating. XD Well, there were people who covered the lab work for those who were occupied with other things. Hehe. Looks like everyone’s excited for tomorrow. Wait. Not everybody. Don’t count me. XD

Night duty tomorrow. Most of night duty mates will be out until seven in the evening, I think.

Still haven’t finished the poem. I didn’t even got to look at it today... Hm...

Okay.

Done blogging.

Got some thinking to do.

FLORES DE MAYO

I came five minutes before 7:30 a.m. today, Hema time. XD The clock at the Hema section is slower than the ones in the other sections. Hehe. Well, anyway, the ones on duty today were Paul, Noah, and I. Bianca was the one assigned on night duty and Lloyd was from duty.

We received a total of twenty-one urine specimens today, most of which were read by Ma’am Violy. That was usually the case. I did the numbering, physical and chemical examinations, and most of the billing and the tracing. Paul did the receiving. We let Noah view the microscope first since Paul and I had out quotas filled already. When Noah finished his, Paul viewed the microscope next before me.

Time went fast. Didn’t notice it was already lunch time until JC suddenly grabbed me by the hand while Chi pushed me from behind towards the door. They had their own way of telling me it’s lunch time. lol Anyway, when we got out to the tiangge for lunch, Chi and JC bought shawarma rice with extra beef. I decided to try it as well and lo, it was good!!! Haha. It was my first time to eat that meal and I loved it. I was actually increasingly becoming sad when it was almost finished. Hehe. The three of us ate at the CM section and Migs came along when we were halfway finished through our meal. Daya daw naming. Hindi daw naming siya inantay. Ako pa sinisi ni Chi tsaka ni JC! Eh sila nga nauna!!!

So Migs bought his own food and when he came back to the CM section, I went out again to buy ginataan. I still wanted to eat! Takaw ko nga raw eh. Hehe. Bakit ba?! Ang sarap kumain eh!

CC section was super toxic. The machine was malfunctioning so they had to use the manual analyzers. They were working ‘till I got home. The whole lab was pretty much very busy because the others were preparing and designing arks for the sagala. It’s a parade for the Flores de Mayo. Nica’s part of it. So is Chi and JP. Hehe. Must take pictures of them this Friday!

I typed a poem today. It’s still unfinished, but it will be soon. I’m pretty inspired...

EARLY BLOG

It’s currently 2:54 a.m. I just thought it’d be important to note the time since I usually blog after a duty and not during. I’m inside the CC section right now, Indian-seated against the refrigerator with my left knee resting on the table. Everyone else is at the hema section. Haha. They’re talking about religion and relationship with God. I wonder if they’re through. Can’t hear through these earphones.

The sagala started a while ago. Yesterday, technically. Around three-thirty I think. There was a bad too. It was kind of weird when they started playing inside the hospital. I saw them pass by the lab. It’s a hospital and all that noise just didn’t seem to fit together. And they have signs outside saying NO BLOWING OF HORNS. Weird, right?

Nica was really pretty in her gold gown. Hehe. JP looked like Alladin! Chi looked like a politician with that badge on... We had free cheeseburgers, fries, and drinks!!!

Time is flying fast. It’s almost morning peak. Just an hour more...

Had KFC chicken and chocolate mousse for dinner. Yummy. Hehe. I enjoyed the chocolate mousse a lot XD

It’s a bit toxic today. We’ve got a lot of dues. Almost every hour. Good thing we don’t have a lot requests for the morning peak. Aaagh! It’s almost morning peak! And I still have to wash the tubes and vials at the CM section. Oh yeah. Speaking of sections., this is my last day at the CM section. It’ll be June when I come next week and I’ll be staying at the Histopath section this time. Saw the schedule and I’m assigned at the pm schedule for the first week. I actually can’t wait for next week. We plan to go to Tagaytay Highlands on Monday. Chi’s celebrating his birthday early. XD Yay for us!

Well, that’s about what I want to talk about for now. I guess I’ll have more later this evening after I wake up. Haha... Loraine’s sleeping now. Haha... I wanna take a picture. But it wouldn’t matter since I’ll be using her camera. She’ll just delete it if she hates it. Argh. I need my own camera soon!!!!

All right. I’m out for now.

LESS DUES, LESS MORNING PEAKS, MORE MOVIES.
APRIL 30, 2008

So it’s my seventeenth day. Night duty.

We had Sir Vern for our staff. He was actually a cool dude. I didn’t like him the first time I saw him, but it turns out he’s quite a good guy. (well, minus all the swearing and profanity, he’s OK)

So Labor Day wasn’t moved to Friday, which meant we didn’t get out super grand off, which was turned out fine because we didn’t have to extract all of the morning peak requests. We had more time to watch, hehe. I brought my laptop and the DVD’s, Chi brought the speakers and extension again. We watched Stomp the Yard and Awake. Hehe.

We have new centrifuges! One for Hema and one for the CC section. It’s great news. Too bad the ones came late for me. I’ve been shifted to the OPD section already! And about the shifting, I’ll elaborate on that later.

I guess this won’t be a long blog. We didn’t do a lot. Although Chi and I tried to ward solo again. We only went together to help each other with the ones with a lot of requests. I needed help because I didn’t have a watch with me (my mom still didn’t have my watches fixed). Chi and I were the first ones back at the lab. We kind of raced with Loraine, Jondee, and JC—without their knowledge. Just made us feel good being first... But I think they got the hard-to-extract ones. lol

Chi and Jondee had a little “disagreement”, to put it nicely, when we were watching a movie. Well, Jondee likes to ask a lot of questions and Chi liked teasing Jondee about it. Jondee got annoyed. But it was really cute when they kissed and made up. They were like kids. Chi poked him in the arm and Jondee couldn’t help but laugh. So we all laughed. Hahahaha.

What else do I remember? Oh yeah! They had the UST scrubs on! Loraine took a picture of them even! Hehe. It was my first time seeing Chi in scrubs. Haha. Jondee’s looked like a muscle shirt over skinny jeans. Even Sir Vern had his fair share of “Jondee teasing”. Hehe! Chi’s fitted the best. Alma’s looked like skinny jeans as well. The only ones who didn’t wear scrubs that night were JC and Mark. I still didn’t get mine. I wonder who’s bringing it?

Of course! Let’s not forget Loraine! It was her birthday! Well, technically, her birthday’s on May 1, but we celebrated during our night duty. No cakes or balloons or any birthday stuff. Just a happy birthday and a free dinner at Yellow Cab! Loraine had to 14-inch pizzas delivered to the lab. Everyone was happy. Of course, who wouldn’t be happy with free dinner? Later in the night, people started getting hungry again so JC, Migs, and me went out to buy food for them. We stopped by at Tazza first to grab fraps (we originally planned coffee).

One more funny note. Migs had to ask me to accompany him to the RR ward. He was pretty much freaked out about something. Hehe. Well, the way to the RR ward isn’t really freaky. The hall’s pretty wide and the lights are perfectly bright. It’s just that the hall’s pretty long. That’s it. Maybe because of the rumors about ghosts lingering there at night or the wee hours of the morning. BUT WAIT—THERE’S MORE!! Sounds like home TV shopping, huh? I just wanted to say that. But there is more. He had to wash tubes in the BB section and he just had to ask Mark to accompany him. Apparently, according to Mang Tito, he saw an old lady in black standing by the refrigerator in the BB section. Hehe. It totally freaked him out. So he asked Mark to stay with him there while he washed. Funny. Well, Jondee told us he “saw” something went he went to the comfort room in the Histopath section. Turns out, he only “felt” it. Hehe. Barbieboy. lol

I was really tired after the morning peak. That’s ‘cause I didn’t get any sleep at all. Not even a minute of sleep. So it took a toll on me in the morning. I almost didn’t want to get up from where I was seated. But there was an extraction and the 24-hour shift people didn’t arrive yet so I was left with no choice but to extract. Thank God her vein was prominent. I surprised myself actually. Because I was still able to smile even though I was tired. I usually get cranky when I’m sleepy and tired. But I wasn’t. So three cheers for me. Hehe.

So when the next shift came, we timed out and had breakfast at Jollibee. Chi and JC weren’t able to join us as usual. Well, what do you know... This blog’s getting quite long. I guess I tale too much. Hehe.

AFTERNOON SCHEDULE—NOT.
MAY 2, 2008

I really thought the shifting of sections was going to be on Monday! So I went with the same afternoon schedule of 11:00-4:00 p.m. But I was shocked to see BB interns staying at the Hema section. I was like, what the heck is Daphne doing in the Hema section? And RJ, isn’t he from the BB section too? And, oh no, Migs is here too? Aaaagh! They shifted today?! I went to the CC section and saw Alma there. Oh my goodness. They did shift today! I headed to the CM section and found out that I was supposed to have timed in at seven in the morning, which meant I was absent already since I was there at 10:50 a.m.

So I saw JP come in on my way out to OPD. I gave him an apologetic look since I told him to follow the afternoon sched as well. I had no idea. Well, I ran out to go to the OPD section. I apologized right away when I saw Sir Marvin. He was pretty cool with it. He told me he won’t mark me absent but I had to make up one day. That was a pretty good deal since I was supposed to make up for it for three days because it wasn’t an excused absence. Three hurrahs for Sir Marvin for his grace. Hehehe.

The machine at OPD wasn’t working right so Sir Marvin had an errand for me. (I did most of it.) I took the tubes with me to the Hema section to feed them there and get the results of the complete blood count (CBC). I went back there countless times. To feed tubes and to call Sir Vern (because we had trouble with the two extractions) and to tail around Sir Monte since he was typing the result for a Hepa B screening which I needed to take back with me at the OPD.

Well, that’s basically what happened today. Of course I had the usual teasing I get from staff people. I was late. They said I was the boss. lol. I thought I was in for some tongue lashing but I wasn’t, so good for me. And yay. But then I think I owe JP another apology. Ma’am Violy asked him to go home since he was already late and marked absent. Aww... So sorry. I had no idea.

But overall, today was cool. It was surprisingly fun for me. I thought Sir Marvin was nice. Well, a little of seniority complex there, maybe, but pretty much OK.

Wonder what’ll be in for me on Monday.

LUNCH AT TOMATO GRILL AND KATIE MACALISTER... AGAIN!
APRIL 23, 2008

Day Fourteen.

Ooh. Sounds familiar. Oh yeah. A title of a story I started but never finished. But that isn’t the topic.

I just felt like typing whatever is in my head right now. I was about to type down that this wasn’t part of the quote and quote internship series, but then I realized I just came from the hospital a while ago. Same nothing much. Although I did most of the lipid profiles tests today. That adds up to my quota. Which reminds me that I haven’t written down those numbers yet. Must remember to write those on my tickler tomorrow afternoon.

Out at 11:25 a.m. Ate at Tomato Grill with Chi again. I was just supposed to buy a Slurpee, said I was just going to accompany him, but then he said Tomato Grill and my stomach churned at the name. Yeah. In short, I fell into the temptation. I have no more cash for next week. I’ve used up my allowance because of food. I’d better consider dieting and just bringing home-prepared foods.

We talked about Starcraft and the lot. I miss that game so much. I’m waiting for the new one coming. I hear it’s got excellent graphics... GO BLIZZARD, GO!

Oh hell, yeah. I can feel so much creative juice in me right now. Looks like the factory is up and working again. It’s been funded again. This is what books do to me. Yes. A huge source of sugar rush it is. I must read and read and read more novels! Ah! Katie MacAlister has inspired me!

I feel saddened really. It’s because I’m done reading A Girl’s Guide to Vampires. I bought it last Monday and now it’s done. I was trying not to finish right away... If I hadn’t, it’d be finished yesterday. Oh... It’s just Wednesday today. Dammit. I read it that fast? Argh. Three hundred bucks. And I didn’t even read it the day

Sorry. My mistake. I bought it last Thursday... So that means I’ve held out for about three days. I only started really reading it last Monday. I still read it that fast. Too intriguing to stop really. I slept late for two consecutive nights just know what’s to happen next. Wow. I’m really surprised about the way I’m writing right now. I feel so creative. Or maybe the book was just some kind of placebo? Maybe. You be the judge.

I’m not talking about what happened to the hospital today, am I? I’m just blabbering about what effect Katie MacAlister on me right now. Ooooh. I love the characters so much. Especially Raphael and Christian. Oooh... You have to read it. Although I don’t think it’s reading material for the guys. They might find it—cheesy. lol

I’m starting to sound too romantic for my own taste. I think this is something I like to think about in the private corners of my head. Aagh! Too much creative juice spilling! But I like it!!! Yay!

I think I just might start typing my story now while the factory’s in business!

Will be having our night duty again tomorrow. Our movie night. Haha. Then grand off the following day. Hoohah!

THE MIST
APRIL 29, 2008

There was immediately an extraction when I arrived in the lab for my night duty. Ma’am Ash asked me to extract on my own—ooh, my first time to go alone—and she told me it was difficult to extract from this patient. And she wasn’t wrong. Although, it wasn’t because his veins were hard to find, it’s because he kept moving when the needle got in. I already hit his vein but he moved his foot, so I had no other choice but to endorse. I didn’t feel too bad about endorsing this one since I knew I could’ve extracted blood if hadn’t moved. Anyway, Ma’am Erge when back with me and she did an arterial puncture. Even she had a hard time getting blood from that guy. He kept moving and moving. Well, the actual highlight of that extraction was the nurse. Oh yeah. The nurse. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate nurses, it’s just that this one scared me. She did an arterial puncture on the guy as well, and if I thought of it positively, she’s only helping Ma’am Erge. The scary part—it was as though she didn’t care how the patient would take the pain. She literally barbecued him with the puncture. If the needle was long enough, all she needed was some charcoal and a grill. I wonder how some people can call themselves nurses when they don’t care about the patients. Really odd. And unsettlingly disappointing.

We had a lot of “dues”. There was an extraction almost every hour. I finally experience extracting from the recovery room. It was intimidating at first, but it wasn’t so anymore when I was able to extract there. Hehe.

During the hours that we had nothing to do, we watched The Mist. Hehehe. Mark brought his DVD player but we used Migs’s laptop instead because the it kept stopping with Mark’s player. Chi brought speakers. I think it was the subwoofer he brought with him as well. lol I don’t really know. Anyway, I’ve actually seen the film already, but it was fun watching it the second time. Ma’am Ash was the one who kept on squealing in fright. Haha. She was the one startling us and not the film. lol

We had a lot of requests for the morning peak. I warded on my own. Had four extractions. It was cool. It was all successful. Harhar.

In the morning, I encountered a patient who was electrocuted. I couldn’t extract from his arms since both arms were wounded deeply. And I mean really deep. It was as though the flesh was scooped out of the inside of his elbows. The only site available was his foot. I was able to get blood, but before I reached 2 mL, the vein collapsed. I tried the second time on a different vein but I wasn’t able to get any and I had to endorse it. The man was really nice. I pitied he had to go through what he went through.

Day fifteen. Hehehe.

NOTHING MUCH.
APRIL 29, 2008

Day sixteen.

I had two extractions. One was successful. But the other one from the recovery room was taken by the nurse. Arterial puncture. Boy, hey just love doing that don’t they?

Such a boring day. Did nothing much after that. It was all pretty much send outs. That’s all.
